How a Few Drops Changed My Life!

Not long ago, I was up to my neck in hefty medical bills, sick kids missing school, and wasted days feeling sick and cruddy. I’m not the type of mom who races her kids to the doctor, but on several occasions that’s what we had to do with sick kids who were not getting better. “Flu season” can wipe out a family for weeks, in more ways than one.

Our youngest little daughter really had a tough time with this season’s illnesses. 🙁 🙁 🙁

12 Ways to Make Your Home a Wellness Sanctuary

Is anyone not busy these days? I’m sure you’re running around, connected 24/7, and short on time. For example, I’m writing this from 35,000 feet, on my way back from a conference at Harvard, where I dedicated some weekend down time to higher learning.

How to Avoid Unhealthy Habits

To keep our minds from falling into repetitive negative patterns, we make our minds so focused on positive thoughts that there is no space for a negative thought or habit to enter. Events happen so that we can be molded into a better person. When we are faced with a difficult situation, we are being given an opportunity to learn. However, sometimes we do not learn. Instead, we develop a negative emotional reaction that becomes habitual. Then we look for ways to relieve ourselves from the emotional negative memory and this can lead to addiction.

Have a Sore Throat? Here are 9 Natural Remedies

What causes sore throats?

Allergies, dry air, and outdoor pollution, as well as illnesses like the common cold, flu, measles, chickenpox, mononucleosis (mono), and the croup, can all cause sore throats. These illnesses are all viral infections that will not respond to antibiotics.

Even if a sore throat isn’t serious enough to warrant a trip to the doctor, it’s still painful and may interfere with a good night’s sleep. Fortunately, there are a number of at-home remedies you can use to soothe the pain and irritation.

Flat Belly Diet Staple — Sassy Water

You’ve probably heard that you need about eight glasses of water a day for adequate hydration. Drinking water and even eating “watery” foods like melon, greens, and other fruits and vegetables has enormous health benefits, including warding off fatigue. But perhaps the most important belly benefit of proper hydration is how it helps maintain your body’s proper fluid balance and guard against water retention. It also helps prevent constipation, which can cause bloating.

10 Ways to Workout as a Family

Get Moving

Babies and toddlers spend an awful lot of time strapped into car seats or plopped in front of the TV. Not only does this prevent them from practicing their emerging motor skills and strengthening their heart, lungs, and muscles, but it can also set them up for a sedentary lifestyle, and even obesity, as adults. A good habit of physical activity, on the other hand, will last a lifetime, says Adelphi University professor Stephen Virgilio, author of Active Start for Healthy Kids (Human Kinetics Publishers). “And it’s never too early to start,” he says.
